Voicemail Information
Meridian Mail is available upon request by having your Telephone Coordinator complete a
Telephone & Network Service Request Form as well as Voice Mail Order Form
(both are required for completion of service). The price to set up a phone number with voicemail is $15.
The monthly charge for having voicemail is $5.25. If you have more than one mailbox per line, it is $5.25 a month for
each mailbox.
If there is voicemail already on the phone you have moved to, you simply change the greeting and personal verification.

Remember, voicemail is not like email - you can't store every message on voicemail. Each voicemail box has three minutes
of available time. If you have stored messages and then are unable to retrieve or send messages, it usually indicates
you are at your storage level. You will then need to delete some of the messages you have saved. Simply follow these steps
to change your personal verification:
Voicemail should also not be the first point of contact for the main departmental telephone number
during normal business hours. It is MSU's preference that initial incoming departmental calls are answered
by a staff member. If the staff member is unavailable, the caller then has the option to leave a message
or be transferred to another available staff member.
- Enter the voicemail system by dialing extension 6060 or pressing your "Message" button.
- Enter your password, if necessary.
- Instead of listening to your messages, press "89" for personal verification. It will state what the current verification
is or if there isn't a current verification.
- Press "5" to begin recording. At the tone, state your name (and phone number, if desired).
- Press "#" to stop recording and hear the verification.
- If you would like to rerecord the verification, press "76" to delete and press "5" again to record.
If you would like to change the greeting on the voicemail, follow these steps:
- Enter the voicemail system by dialing extension 6060 or pressing your "Message" button.
- Enter your password, if necessary.
- Instead of listening to your messages, press "82" for your greeting options. You will hear 3 options: External,
internal, and temporary absence greeting.
- Enter the appropriate number.
- Press "5" and begin recording at the tone.
- Press "#" when you are finished recording.
- If you are entering a temporary absence greeting, you will wait for a prompt to enter the expiration date and time.
- To listen to your greeting, press "2".
- If you are satisfied with the greeting, you may press "4" to go to another command, or simply hang up.
- If you would like to record the message again, press "76" to delete greeting.
- Press "5" to begin recording and press "#" when finished.
