Montana Mayors Academy and Forum
Montana Mayors Academy
The Montana Mayors Academy is an biennial education program for municipal mayors across Montana co-hosted by the Montana Municipal Insurance Authority and the Local Government Center. The Academy is designed to assit newly elected mayors to gain a basic understanding of some of the operational elements they face and to enhanse the understanding of these elements for mayors with more experience. The Academy consists of a series of case studies centered on topics central to a mayor's duties, including:
- the roles and responsibilities of mayors,
- budgeting and financial management,
- human resource management,
- ethics and conflict of interest,
- land use decisions,
- open meetings, etc.
2008 Montana Mayors Academy
The Local Government Center and the Montana Municipal Insurance Authority co-hosted the 3rd Biennal Montana Mayors Academy in Bozeman on January 30-31 and February 1, 2008. A total of 38 mayors from across Montana made it to this year's Academy.
Montana Mayors Forum
The Montana Mayors Forum is a shorter, less formal meeting of the mayors held in alternating years. The next Mayors Forum will be held in 2009.
