The Local Government Center conducts two days of workshops annually for municipal mayors and council members in conjunction with the Municipal Institute for Clerks, Treasurers, & Finance Officers. The agenda is developed in collaboration with the Montana Municipal Insurance Authority in response to requests from mayors, city council members, and city attorneys.
The purpose of the workshops are to help mayors and council members:
- Learn about their roles and responsibilities as elected officials;
- Keep updated on new and emerging issues and opportunities of importance to local governance;
and
- Enhance their capacity to serve effectively, professionally, and efficiently in municipal government.

Planning is underway for the 2008 Municipal Elected Officials Workshop, to be held May 8-9 at the Holiday Inn Grand Montana in Billings. Please check back for more information.
2007 Municipal Elected Officials Workshop
The 2007 Municipal Elected Officials Workshop was held at the Billings Holiday Inn Grand Montana on May 9-10. Attendance was excellent - 33 mayors and 53 council members representing 48 municipalities made it to Billings this year.
Additional Training for Mayors
