Montana County Treasurers Certification School
 |
| Dolores Srameck, Fergus County Treasurer, poses a question during the 2007 County Treasurers Certification School. |
Each year, the Local Government Center coordinates the County Treasurers Certification School on behalf of the Montana Association of County Treasurers (Association). The Association created the certification program in response to the increasing complexity of the jobs of local government officials. First held in 1989, in 2006 the Association formally adopted a 2-year, 40-hour certification curriculum developed in coordination with the Local Government Center. The curriculum focuses on the administrative, leadership, and technical skills needed by county treasurers. Instructors include Montana State University faculty and staff members, practicing experts in county government, and resource persons from the public and private sectors who work directly with local government. The Certification School provides an excellent opportunity for Treasurers to exchange ideas with colleagues from across Montana.
