The Local Government Center collaborates with the Montana Municipal Insurance Authority (MMIA) to produce several workshops and certification programs.
Training for Montana's Mayors
MMIA and the Local Government Center jointly administer the Montana Mayors Academy every other year and the Montana Mayors Forum alternate years.
Additionally, the Center and MMIA collaborate annually on the Muncipal Elected Officials Workshops, a two-day series of workshops held in conjunction with the Montana Municipal Institute for Clerks, Treasurers, & Finance Officers.
Training for City Attorneys
MMIA also contracts with the Local Government Center to administer the Jim Tillotson Service Program, an annual training program that provides city attorneys and MMIA defense counsel an opportunity to further their understanding of risk and exposure issues specific to Montana cities and towns. Held in conjunction with the Montana Municipal Institute for Clerks, Treasurers, & Finance Officers and the Montana Municipal Elected Officials Workshop, the Jim Tillotson Service Program is designed to be a collaborative learning process that will involve the interaction of the participants and faculty.
