Montana Mayors Academy
The Montana Mayors Academy is a biennial education program co-hosted by the Montana Municipal Insurance Authority and the Local Government Center. The Academy is designed to assist mayors of varying levels of experience. Newly elected mayors can expect to gain a basic understanding of some of the operational elements they face. Experiences mayors can expect to enhance their understanding of these elements. The Academy consists of a series of case studies centered on topics central to a mayor's duties, including:
- Roles and responsibilities
- Budgeting and financial management
- Human resource management
- Ethics and conflict of interest
- Land use decisions
- Open meetings and public participation
