My pedagogical interests include teaching various levels of Japanese, and focusing student attention on the acquisition of the four main language components of listening, speaking, writing, and reading. I also try to integrate cultural lessons in the classroom, such as contact with Japanese etiquette and other cultural traditions, and strongly support student efforts to study abroad in Japan. When I have spare time, I enjoy living in the beautiful Gallatin Valley, where I photograph wildlife and work on training my Japanese-breed of dog, a Shiba-inu which in Japan is a "natural monument," named Taiyo.
