It was a locomotive of this type and design, Illinois Central 382, that was
assigned to Cayce Jones when he was in the famous wreck at Vaughan, Mississippi,
April 30, 1900. The 382 had been moving in exess of 100 miles per hour shortly
before colliding with the rear of a freight train which didn't fit in the siding.
NP 215 was shot at Tacoma in April 1932. |
