The MSU Chorale is an auditioned concert choir which presents two formal concerts each semester. Its repertoire includes representative works from all historical periods and styles. In addition to the regular concert schedule, special events for the Chorale include the annual Madrigal Dinner and the Choral Invitational, which features a festival chorus made up of singers from area schools. The Chorale presents programs in Montana schools and tours internationally. Recent tours have taken the ensemble to China, the Philippines and several European countries including France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. A June 2006 tour included major venues in Berlin, Leipzig, Prague, Vienna and Budapest.

The Montanans is the most select vocal chamber ensemble in the Department of Music. The 16 voices in the ensemble are selected by audition at the beginning of Fall Semester and serve as the core of the MSU Chorale. The Montanans sing repertoire representing every stylistic period, Renaissance to the 21st Century, including vocal jazz. In addition to two formal concerts each semester, the Montanans entertain at the annual Madrigal Dinner and perform regularly at University and community events. The group tours annually, offering clinics and concerts in Montana schools.

The University Chorus is a non-auditioned choir open to all MSU students. It rehearses three times per week and performs in concert two times per semester. Its repertoire includes representative works from all historical periods.
