How to Join

The "Spirit of the West" is open to all MSU students--from all majors--who have band instrument playing experience.

To join for 2013, follow these steps:

  1. Complete the SotW Pre-Registration form online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SotW_Prereg_2013
  2. Apply to MSU (if you have not already) and get accepted
  3. Attend New Student Orientation in the Spring or Summer, but not in late August (as it will conflict with band camp)
  4. Enroll in MUSI 155-001 "Spirit of the West Marching Band"
  5. Once you are for sure coming to MSU and are going to join the SotW, complete the membership agreement form (available soon)
  6. Come to marching band camp on Aug. 18-24, 2013 (Drumline/Colorguard placements on the 16th and 17th)
