BOZEMAN
Montana State University College of Agriculture invites you to visit campus during MSU Ag Appreciation
Weekend Friday and Saturday Nov. 9-10.
Events that
weekend include an art show, steer judging, football game, kiss-a-critter contest, silent
auction of beautiful and useful items and a dinner/dance.
Setting the tone for the weekend will be hundreds of high school students from across Montana participating in Ag Days on campus, a series of competitions and events on and near campus. There will also be an FFA and 4-H Alumni Reception in the Strand Union Building Friday starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Juried Art
Show at MSU's Exit Gallery is open through Friday Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It
features the work of 15 artists whose work depicts either agriculture or natural resources
subjects. The 15 painters, photographers
and sculptors were chosen from 35 who submitted artwork.
Many of the
artists' works have been donated to the Silent Auction to benefit the Agricultural Student
Activity Fund. That auction will include hundreds of items from bronze sculptures to motor
oil and from horse tack to hand-made clothing. All items in the silent auction have been
donated. You can bid on any item between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday except during the
football game.
Saturday at 7:30
a.m. you can visit with the Bobcat staff at the Athletics' Breakfast at the Strand Union
Building.
From 9 a.m. to
noon Saturday, Steer-a-Year judging and barbeque will be underway at the Miller Pavilion.
These steers have been donated by ranchers across Montana to benefit both the athletics
and agricultural student scholarship and activities funds as well as the rodeo team.
At 10 a.m.
Saturday, the Athletics' Blue-Gold Bash Tent will be set up on the north side of the
football stadium for those who want to get ready early for the noon Bobcat football game
against Idaho State University.
At the football game, the winner of the Kiss-a-Critter contest will be announced. The third annual event has a serious side -- voting by your dollars not only sets up campus and community personalities to have to kiss a critter (this year a sheep), but also makes money for the Agricultural Scholarship Fund. In addition, this year's Outstanding Agricultural Leaders will be presented to the audience at the football game. Selected by a College of Agriculture committee, Vern and Naomi Pluhar of Cohagen and Greg Gould and Dr. Aimee Hachigian-Gould of Ulm exemplify responsible and creative agriculture leadership.
The weekend culminates with the Boots and Bow-Ties banquet and awards Saturday in the SUB Ballroom. A no-host social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m. and the dance begins at 9 p.m.
