BOZEMAN--Montana
State University’s new livestock judging team recently evaluated 45 steers donated to
MSU’s College of Agriculture, rodeo team and athletics. Proceeds from the sale of the
steers go to scholarships and student activities. The student team, coached by Marc King
of Big Timber, judged steers on potential
growth rate and carcass quality.
First place went
to Butte City Slickers, donation of a steer
raised by John Merkel;
Second place:
Hamilton Ranch (George Trischman), Twin Bridges;
Third place:
Travis and Robert Kline, Deer Lodge;
Fourth place:
R Bar N Ranch (Rick Kline), Deer Lodge; and
Fifth place:
E.L. Peterson Ranch (Dean Peterson), Judith Gap.
