BOZEMAN--A Montanan has been appointed to a national board that advises Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman.   Judith Davis, project director for the tribal college Extension program at Chief Dull Knife Memorial College, was appointed to a three-year term on the committee, called the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education and Economics (NAREEE) Advisory Board.

Davis is dean of academic affairs as well as an alumnus of Chief Dull Knife Memorial College in Lame Deer. She oversees the college's Extension program, which deals mainly with community development issues. Davis is a former teacher and 4-H leader.

Davis was selected to represent U.S. land-grant tribal colleges because of Dull Knife's many USDA-sponsored programs and federally funded research projects, as well as her own involvement with many government agencies. Other members of the advisory board represent various industries and consumer groups related to agriculture, natural resources and rural economic development.

The 30 members of NAREEE advisory board research subjects like international trade and biosecurity, and then report their findings to Secretary Veneman.
