BOZEMAN -- The Farm and Ranch Recreation Business Workshop has won the national Odyssey Award from the Travel Industry Association of America. The award was presented to Travel Montana for best tourism education and training program.
The award-winning workshops include a videotape produced by Dave Sharpe, Montana State University Extension community development specialist, and Karen Johnson, a video specialist with MSU-Bozeman Communications Services. The 45-minute videotape is called "Fun on the Farm: Starting a Farm and Ranch Recreation Business."
Bed and breakfasts, cattle drives, working guest ranches, dude ranches and other recreational opportunities are highlighted in the videotape. Licensing and sanitation requirements, as well as liability and safety issues are also covered.
