MSU-Bozeman Library has Free
Web Link to Federal Information

BOZEMAN - - Many of the nation's most important federal documents are now available free via the World Wide Web through Montana State University-Bozeman's Renne Library.

The U. S. Government Printing Office (GPO) recently opened its tenth electronic gateway at MSU's library. Many important government publications are available through the gateway on the same day they are published, including The Congressional Record, Federal Register, U.S. Code, congressional bills, General Accounting Office reports, Economic Indicators and other federal databases.

A computer, modem and web browser software are needed for access. Users may access the gateway by pointing their web browser to:

http://www.lib.montana.edu/GOVDOC/gpo.html

or by choosing the GPO Access Gateway option from the MSU library home page at http://www.lib.montana.edu. Users of the MSU-Bozeman gateway may search the databases as frequently as they like, without charge, according to library officials.

The library is one of the nation's systems of federal depository libraries. The system is expanding public access to GPO documents through the electronic gateway program.

The new GPO service supplements the electronic offerings available through the Renne Library's MSU Outreach Network. Other items on the menu include a Gopher version of the Commerce Business Daily, CD-ROM databases, indexes to the Bozeman and Great Falls newspapers and links to other library catalogs.
