$36,000 in Prize Money Available to Montana High School Students Through High School Financial Literacy Awards

11/10/99 - BOZEMAN- $36,000 in prize money is up for grabs to high school students who create essays, Web sites, posters and other projects pertaining to the financial theme of "The Credit Puzzle--How to Use It, and Not Abuse It."
The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), which also sponsors the High School Financial Planning Program in Montana and many other states, hosts the annual contest to promote financial responsibility among young adults. Four first-place winners will receive $5,000, while four second-place awards will receive $3,000 and four third-place awards will receive $1,000.
The contest is designed to promote financial responsibility to students wishing to further their education after high school--whether it be college, studying abroad, vocational schools, internships, or many other options.
Marsha Goetting, family economics specialist for Montana State University Extension, works with NEFE to bring the High School Financial Planning Program to students in Montana.
