MSU-Bozeman Student feted for Rockefeller Award


BOZEMAN - A reception was held April 24, 1997 for Angela Bird, a junior psychology major at Montana State University-Bozeman who recently was named one of 25 national winners of a prestitious Rockefeller Brothers Fund Minority Teaching Fellowship. The reception will be held 3:30- 4:30 p.m. in the Bradley Conference Room of Wilson Hall on the MSU-Bozeman campus.

Bird, an enrolled Blackfeet from Browning, will receive up to $18,100 over the next few years. Bird will receive $2,500 during the coming summer months to work under the guidance of Leann Stadtlander, MSU psychology professor, on a project involving students with disabilities. Following graduation, the fellowship provides $9,000 to $12,000 for graduate work in education or a related field.

Bird is the fifth MSU student to win a national Rockefeller Brothers Fund Minority Teaching Fellowship since the awards were developed in 1990.
