Architectural illustration exhibition opens at MSU

Bozeman -- Architecture in Perspective 16, an international exhibition of architectural illustration, will be on display from Sept. 10 through Oct. 5 in the Helen E. Copeland and Cheever Galleries of Montana State University.
The American Society of Architectural Illustrators
(ASAI) and the Schools of Architecture and Fine Art will host an opening reception for the exhibition in adjoining Cheever and Haynes Halls on
the campus of MSU from 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13.
The Architecture in Perspective 16 Exhibition is comprised
of 51 award-winning works from eight nations and includes a broad selection of
architectural imagery ranging from felt-tip sketches on napkins to classic, formal
watercolors and cutting-edge computer generated illusions. Among the pieces of this
collection is the Hugh Ferris Memorial Prize winning The Royal Ascot Finishing Post
by Michael McCann of Toronto, Canada. The Ferris Prize honors the legacy of the 20th
centurys most influential architectural illustrator and is the most highly revered
international award in architectural illustration.
The annual Architecture in Perspective Competition and Exhibition is organized and operated by the ASAI, a non-profit professional organization, whose principal purposes are to foster communication between architectural illustrators, to raise the standards of architectural rendering internationally, and to acquaint a broader public with the importance of such drawing as integral to the practice of architecture. ASAI is the largest, most distinguished international society of architectural illustrators in the world. The ASAI has among its membership, some 350 practicing professionals from all over the globe including North and South America, Europe, the Far East, and Australia.
