Paddy Fleming, a native Montanan who grew up in  Charlo, recently joined the staff of Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) as a field engineer for the Kalispell/Northwestern Montana service area.  Fleming has more than 10 years of management and supervisory experience in manufacturing, improving productivity and greater profit margins at various plants. His strengths include providing solutions to throughput, cost reduction, quality and safety issues, budgeting, system design and analysis, and equipment maintenance problems

In 1999, Fleming received the unique “Snow Plow Award” for improving earnings through innovative thinking at International Paper (IP) in Texas. Fleming was with IP from 1992-99 working at plants across the United States. As a result of his leadership qualities, he became one of the youngest people to be promoted to manufacturing manager there. He has also served in engineering and management positions at Marquip, a machinery manufacturer for the paper industry in Wisconsin with U.S. and European offices, and at Pactiv, formerly Tenneco Packaging, at University Park, Ill.

Fleming holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Montana State University and earned an MBA in business administration and management in 1998 from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Ill.

Fleming can be reached at (800) MEP-4MFG or (406) 758-5478. His office is located in Kalispell at the Northwest Business Center, 218 Main Street.

Fleming is one of five MMEC center field staff serving Montana manufacturers.
