Montana State University-Bozeman will celebrate Homecoming 2001 Oct. 11-13

10/05/2001 BOZEMAN -- MSU's Homecoming organizers will welcome hundreds of alumni back to campus to celebrate. Several groups will be returning to Homecoming for reunion celebrations. The class of 1961 will celebrate its 40th reunion and there will be a Herrick Hall 75th anniversary celebration. The Kappa Sigma fraternity celebrates its 75th anniversary and Pi Beta Phi notes its 80th.  The Class of 1976 Spurs and Fangs, Les Bouffons and the 1950-51 Bobcat Hall of Fame Basketball Team have reunions slated. The Bobcat cheerleaders and dance team members also will reunite.

On Thursday, Oct. 11, there will be the "Go Cats" lighting at 8:45 p.m. at the residence halls and bonfire at 9 p.m. in the south parking lot of the Fieldhouse and a Homecoming Concert featuring "The Clintons" from 9:30-11:30 p.m.

On Friday, Oct. 12, there will be tours of campus, as well as tours of specific campus sites, such as the Burns Telecommunication Center, the Ag Bioscience Facility and the Museum of the Rockies. The annual Alumni Awards Ceremony will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the Foundation/Alumni Center. This ceremony will honor the recipients of the prestigious Alumni Achievement Award. Other Friday activities include "Paint the Town Blue and Gold" with the Alumni Association starting at the Baxter Hotel at 6 p.m. Sports action begins at 7 p.m. as the MSU volleyball team takes on the U of M Grizzlies in Shroyer Gym.

The highlight of the weekend will be Saturday, Oct. 13, starting with the Booster Breakfast at 8 a.m. and the Homecoming parade at 10 a.m. on Bozeman's Main Street. The parade will feature MSU's Spirit of the West Marching Band, the largest band in the history of

the university. Saturday's festivities will continue with the alumni tailgate party at 11:30 a.m.,

under the big top tent across from the stadium on Kagy Boulevard. At 1:30 p.m. the MSU Bobcats will meet Cal State-Sacramento Hornets for the annual Homecoming football matchup, where the 2001 Homecoming royalty will be crowned during halftime. The game will be followed by the Downtown Touchdown, a chance for Homecoming participants to continue their exploration of downtown Bozeman.
