Advising Goals
To provide advice on curriculum, internships, and career
planning/objectives so students may make the most informed
decisions possible for their future.
Advising Policy
After the initial registration as a new freshaman or transfer
student by a Department representative, the student is assigned
an advisor for his/her remaining years in Chemical Engineering
according to the first initial of the student's last name.
Advising information is taken into the classroom as part of
Freshman Seminar. Advising every semester is required for a
4yr guarantee student, and we request all students meet with
their advisors every semester for a preregistration consultation.
Students interested in internships or cooperative education
are asked to meet with their academic/intern faculty coordinators
for each work session. We provide special advising for graduating
seniors.
Recent Changes and Future Plans
- To Improve Quality of Advising
- We have implemented a ChE Homepage on the network to provide
information on the program to both MSU and prospective students.
We provide availability of resumes of students seeking
internships or permanent employment to prospective employers
upon student release approval. We also provide periodic
updates from the Department Head or certifying officer to
faculty advisors and students.
- To Improve Accessibility of Advisors
- With a general open-door policy, the accessibility is very
good. We will continue this policy.
