Montana Space Grant Consortium
The Montana Space Grant Consortium is pleased to announce a call for
proposals for two categories of proposals:
(1) Montana NASA EPSCoR RESEARCH INITIATION PROPOSALS:
Proposals are welcome in all fields of science and
engineering normally funded by NASA. Research Grants from the Montana
Space Grant Consortium are intended to help Montana Consortium faculty develop
nationally competitive research programs in the fields of aerospace sciences and
engineering. Grants are for a period of one year, and all grantees are
expected to make contact with and develop connections with NASA researchers, and
to submit a follow-on proposal to NASA for continued funding within the period
of the grant. The purpose and spirit of proposing faculty make contact
with NASA researchers in their field before submitting a proposal to
determine NASA's interest in the proposed area of work. The Consortium
office can assist in establishing NASA contacts.
(2) AEROSPACE EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT PROPOSALS:
Proposals should present a plan for significantly
improving educational resources in the fields of aerospace sciences and
engineering in the Consortium member colleges and universities, and/or aerospace
educational outreach to the K-12 school systems or general public in
Montana. Specific goals of the National Space Grant Program in this area
are: interdisciplinary training in areas related to aerospace, recruitment and
training of professionals, especially women, underrepresented minorities, and
persons with disabilities for careers in aerospace science and technology; and
to promote a strong science, mathematics, and technology education base from
elementary through university levels. Proposals may be for the enhancement
of existing classes or curricula, or to provide start-up funding to develop new
class offerings, e.g., offerings in planetary science or aerospace
engineering. Grants are for a period of one year. Proposals should
generally concentrate on university/college level aerospace education; secondary
and elementary (as well as general public) outreach as a secondary goal.
Programs aimed at pre- or in-service K-12 teachers, however, are considered
higher education and are among our primary goals.
TIME FRAME: Proposals (original and 10 copies) are due in
the Montana Space Grant Consortium Office, 261 EPS Building, Montana State
University, Bozeman, MT 59717-3835, by Friday, November 8, 2002 at 5:00pm.
