Richard A. Block: Laboratory and Research

Current Research

Intent to Remember

In a series of five experiments, instructions to subjects to remember briefly presented human faces and other pictorial stimuli were found to enhance subsequent recognition memory (Block, 2009). This research is ongoing.

Cognitive Load and Duration Judgments

In a meta-analysis, we investigated how cognitive load affects duration judgments. This research is not yet published, but it was reported at a recent conference (Block, 2007).

    The Spacing Effect

Some of my earliest research (along with Douglas Hintzman) investigated how the spacing of repetitions enhances memory. We are now conducting additional research on this effect, mainly using a duration-production methodology. Preliminary data were presented at a recent conference (Block, Bosco, & Schanz, 2006).

For additional information on my lab, or if you are interested in collaborating with us on this kind of research, please contact me.
