Persuasion and
Affect Lab

Left to Right: Dan, Paul, Lynsey, Abby, Ashley, Sang, Holly, Amy, Brett, and Ian
The Persuasion and Affect Lab conducts research on a wide variety of topics within social cognition, although primary research foci pertain to 1) attitude formation and change as influenced by mood, nonconscious affect and other nonconscious processes, goals, thinking styles, personality characteristics, and other factors, and 2) the influence individuals’ mood state has on information processing, activity choice, and behavior. Additional topics studied by members of our lab include the self-serving bias, law and social cognition, the mere exposure effect, counterfactual thinking, and evolutionary psychology, to name a few.
