Montana State University is located in Bozeman, a city of 30,000+, in the northern Rockies (altitude: 4,800 ft.). Situated in a valley of rivers and streams surrounded by mountains, the area is a paradise for alpine and cross country skiing (Bridger Bowl is 15 minutes and Big Sky is 45 minutes from MSU), snowmobiling, snowshoeing, camping, running, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, tennis, white water rafting, and world-class fly fishing. Only 90 minutes from Yellowstone National Park and within a day's drive of Glacier National Park, it is a beautiful place to study and relax. Bozeman's airport provides non-stop service to major hubs such as Minneapolis (Northwest Airlines), Detroit (Northwest Airlines; winter season/weekends only), Salt Lake City (Delta Airlines), Denver (United Airlines), Los Angeles (Horizon Airlines; winter season only), and Seattle (Horizon Airlines).
