DVA Student Work-Study Allowance Program
Tutorial Assistance for Chapter 1606, 30, 32 and 35 Recipients
Tutorial assistance may be paid to eligible persons attending school under Chapters 1606, 30, 32 and 35. This allowance is
supplemental to the claimant's monthly educational assistance check and is paid without any entitlement charge for those
under Chapter 35. However, for those under Chapters 1606, 30 and 32, entitlement will be charged for the amount of
tutorial assistance in excess of $600. The tutorial assistance many not exceed $100 per calendar month up to a maximum of
$1,200.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must be enrolled half-time (6 credits) or more in an approved program of study and certified by
MSU-Bozeman for educational benefits.
- The applicant must have a deficiency in a course in which currently enrolled. Assistance may not be approved to
improve a satisfactory (C or better) grade.
- Tutorial assistance may be authorized only for tutoring given during the term. It may not be authorized for breaks
between terms.

Tutorial Assistance for Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation) Recipients
Tutorial assistance may be paid to eligible persons attending school under Chapter 31. This allowance is supplemental to
the claimant's monthly educational assistance check and is paid without any entitlement charge.
Eligibility:
- The applicant for tutorial assistance must be currently enrolled in an approved program of study and certified by the
institution for Chapter 31 benefits.
- The applicant must have a deficiency in a course in which he or she is currently enrolled. Assistance may not be
approved to improve a satisfactory (C or better) grade.
- The applicant must have written authorization from his/her case manager.
- Tutorial assistance may be authorized only for tutoring given during the term. It may not be authorized for breaks
between terms.

DVA Student Work-Study Allowance Program
Recipients of Vocational Rehabilitation, Montgomery GI Bill (Chapters 30 and 106), VEAP, and Survivors and
Dependents benefits are eligible for Veteran Work-Study. The rate equals the Federal minimum wage or the state minimum
wage, whichever is greater. Recipients should inquire about sign-up at the MSU Office of Veteran Services. See the U.S.
