Festivals and Contests

The ACE Documentary Film Grant - The Humane Society of America - The $20,000 prize is given to a filmmaker that best succeeds in merging animal issues with a compelling narrative. Second and third place respectively receive $2,500 and $1,000.

The Princeton Student Film & Video Festival seeks entries for this year’s festivals. Deadline for submissions: June 25, 2012.

The Short Film Channel accepts all genres of film, including narratives, comedies, documentaries, horror and experimental. Once submitted, all films will be reviewed by a panel of judges. Those films determined to be of the highest quality and craftsmanship will be broadcast. A panel of experienced producers, actors, directors and filmmakers themselves will then review the best in the contest to determine the winner among the films submitted. We have 23 current judges including: 

Director/Producer DAVID ZUCKER, WILL BIGHAM,  Documentary Channel Founder TOM NEFF, Cinematographer Steven Douglas Smith,  Actress Kelly Washington, Producer Magnus Kaberg, Country Idol Judge Anastasia Brown, Filmaking Student David Lawrence,  Director David Mackay, and Actor Odessa Rae.

Judging is based on the following criteria: script, acting, cinematography, soundtrack, overall production quality, and artistic value. The winner of the festival will receive $500.00 and a Short Film Channel Award.

Thurrock International Film Festival is a new short international film festival that is taking place in Thurrock, Essex, UK in June, 2012. This festival is an open competition that anybody can enter and we have two international categories as well as student / documentary / animation / music video and under 16 categories that can be entered by anybody worldwide.
