Travel Plans, Employee Foreign Travel Insurance Coverage and Services

All travel to foreign countries that is part of your employment with Montana State University should be well planned and undertaken only after careful consideration of all the risk and potential for risk that will be encountered. Each MSU department will take all the necessary steps to insure that employees participating in foreign travel have filed a travel plan in their department and taken all the pre-departure steps necessary. The MSU Office of International Programs, 994-4031, can provide you with a list of all recommended foreign travel precautions and considerations.
In addition to the worker’s compensation insurance coverage provided to employees of Montana State University for occupational injuries and illnesses that occur within Montana, employees are covered by additional insurance policies providing coverage and benefits for travel into foreign countries. Coverage Territory for Liability Coverages:
The Coverage Territory for COMMERCIAL GENERAL LIABILITY COVERAGE, CONTINGENT AUTO LIABILITY COVERAGE, and EMPLOYEE BENEFITS LIABILITY ENDORSEMENT means:
ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, but excludes:
1. the United States of America (including its territories and possessions) and Puerto Rico;
2.
any country or jurisdiction which is the subject of trade or economic
sanctions imposed by the laws or regulations of the United States of America.
In jurisdictions where ACE USA
may be prevented by law or otherwise from paying on behalf of or defending MSU
employees, ACE USA will:

In jurisdictions where ACE USA may be prevented by law or
otherwise from paying on behalf of MSU employees or defending MSU employees, ACE
USA will:
1. indemnify an MSU employee for those sums he/she becomes legally obligated to pay as damages to which the ACE USA insurance applies; and
2. pay the cost of an MSU employee’s defense and aid and manage such defense.
Coverage Territory for Employers Responsibility Coverages:
The ACE USA insurance applies:
1. to claims MSU will make for “voluntary compensation” and repatriation for employees of MSU workplaces included below;
2. to claims or suits for damages for employers liability brought against MSU by employees of MSU workplaces included below;
3.
to assistance rendered to employees of MSU workplaces included below,
when traveling 100 miles or more from home, and to “expatriate MSU
employees” without limitation of travel distance:

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANCE:
The foreign travel insurance coverage provided to MSU employees includes Medical, Personal and Travel Assistance Services that are part of EXECUTIVE ASSISTANCE SERVICES. These are provided by Worldwide Assistance a leader in the assistance industry.
When an MSU employee who is covered under this policy becomes injured or ill while traveling with the coverage territory, Executive Assistance Services are available.
Services are provided for MSU expatriate employees and MSU employees engaged in temporary travel including the MSU employee’s accompanying spouse, child(ren) or other companion(s).
Medical Assistance Services:
· Emergency Medical Evacuation is provided when medical facilities are not available locally
· Repatriation to the USA is provided when medically necessary
· Hospital Admission Deposit (USD$10,000) is provided
· Medical Monitoring and regular communication to a person designated by the MSU employee is provided
·
Dispatch of a Doctor or Specialist is provided when the MSU
employee’s condition cannot be adequately assessed locally.
Personal Assistance Services:
· Pre-Trip Medical Referral Information to multi-lingual doctors and/or addresses and phone numbers for hospitals is provided
· Emergency Medication arrangements and transportation is provided
· Embassy and Consular Information, worldwide, is provided
· Lost Document Assistance for replacing important travel documents including passport and credit cards is provided.
· Emergency Message Transmission to one family member and/or your MSU employer is provided
· Emergency Cash Advance of up to $1,000 in local currency for emergencies is provided
· Legal Access to local attorneys is provided
· Translations and Interpreters is provided

Benefits Verification and Claims Assistance to help with the
coordination of overseas claims procedures is provided
Travel Assistance:
When an MSU employee is hospitalized or evacuated,
Worldwide Assistance will arrange:
· Return of traveling companion/dependents
· Return of Vehicle to rental agency

Emergency Family Travel Arrangements for family members that need
to join a hospitalized MSU employee
