Scholarship Application Instructions
To be placed in the pool of applicants for a monetary award, you will need to complete a Student Involvement Log (SIL). A Student Involvement Log is a record of your non-academic involvement while a student at Montana State University (or, if you are a transfer student, from other universities as well). It is a self-generated document - no forms are used other than the one you create and turn in. Awards are given out at the annual Day of Student Recognition (DSR) ceremony to be held this year the evening of Tuesday, April 22, 2008.
SIL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Type and print
your SIL carefully following the format EXACTLY as indicated in the instructions
included with the attached sample SIL.
2. Save your SIL and hold onto it! Student Activities will not be
able to provide you with a copy of your SIL for future updates. Also, if you
have submitted an SIL in prior years, please note the FORMAT CHANGES shown on
this sample SIL.
3. Sign & date your SIL and bring it to the Office of Student Activities,
282 SUB, no later than Friday, March 7, 2008 @ 5:00 p.m.
Criteria used in the peer
review process to determine award recipients will be:
A. Involvement
B. Contributions
in the areas of leadership, scholarship, campus-wide activities
C. Service
both on- and off-campus. Breadth, depth, and scope of interest and level of
involvement are also factors
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY AWARD RECIPIENTS WILL RECEIVE INVITATIONS TO THE CEREMONY.
To make the peer review
process as anonymous as possible, we ask that you do the following:1. Put your NAME and REFERENCES on the COVER SHEET ONLY (not on each page)!
2. Number each page of your SIL except the cover sheet.
3. Please make your information as specific as you like. For example, if you
are involved in the Residence Halls or the Greek system, you can mention the
specific floor or house, and any responsibilities with which you are associated
with that activity.
4. Don't forget to SIGN & DATE your SIL.
PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THE DIRECTION SHEET BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR SIL, AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS, PLEASE CALL STUDENT ACTIVITIES AT 994-3591.
DEADLINE
FOR ALL STUDENT INVOLVEMENT LOGS:
FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2008 @ 5:00 p.m.
Remember, to be considered for a scholarship, you must turn in a SIL. Thanks!
