THE LIBRARY COMMONS at MSU Libraries
Transforming Information Into Knowledge In The 21st Century
The Library Commons will transform the first floor of the MSU Library into a student-centered study and learning area that is rich in the assistance and technologies that student need to complete their class work. The name Commons signals that the area belongs equally to the entire campus community as an inviting and useful mix of technology, expertise and services.
Why in the Library? Students know the Library as an active learning place with the information and expertise they need to succeed. Students will be able to meet with a librarian, get help and perhaps arrange for special tutoring or customized assistance. Students seek more flexible spaces for group study, places to prepare presentations and the tools to create digital objects like maps, videos, images and data sets for class assignments.
MSU Library: securing into the 21st century and beyond those distinctive features of intellectual seriousness, artistic vibrancy, and social engagement that have defined Montana State University as the state's land grant university since its founding in 1893.
