| Herrick Hall was constructed in 1925-1926 for $140,000 following a design by Fred F. Willson, a former MSU student and renowned local architect. The building was a welcome sight for the department, which had changed locations nearly as often as it changed names. Herrick Hall was named after the college's first Dean of Women students, Dean Una B. Herrick. Herrick arrived at M.S.C. in 1911. |
| Herrick Hall has served Montana State University for 75 years and is still structurally sound. |
| The building however is in desperate need of some immediate repair work and extensive renovation work, both interior and exterior. |
| Laboratories in Herrick Hall have not been updated since the 1950's, in fact many areas have furnishings original to the building. |
|
|
| There is asbestos tile in the food sciences laboratory, the basement leaks, the heating system is in disarray and many windows do not properly function. |
| The Herrick Hall Renaissance Campaign has been initiated by the College of Education, Health & Human Development to update and renovate Herrick Hall in order to meet the needs of the Department of Health and Human Development, both current and future. Fundraising plans focus on a demographic of "home economics" graduates who have an interest in seeing Herrick Hall renovated, and have the interest in becoming involved in the project. |
