Updates - Overview

NEW PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS AND ADVISORS!!!

DegreeWorks is now live for all undergraduate students at MSU.  Use DegreeWorks to track a student’s progress toward their degree and stay on track toward graduation, plus see how courses apply to a different major, a second major, or a minor.  The notes function is a handy, paperless way to keep track of advising visits. DegreeWorks can be accessed through MyInfo; faculty and staff can find it under their Faculty Services tab and students can find it under their Student Services tab.  For questions or concerns about a student’s DegreeWorks worksheet, see FAQ’s and Help, plus much more information and the ability to submit a feedback form at www.montana.edu/degreeworks.

NEW FORM AND GOING GREEN PROCEDURES FROM THE REGISTRAR'S OFFICE!

ADVISING AND REGISTRATION FORM (ARF):  A new and improved form is available for Summer and Fall 2013 advising.  This form replaces the Personal Data Form (PDF) with a new format that includes additional student information related to DegreeWorks (catalog year, primary advisor, cumulative credits & GPA, term of admission & anticipated graduation date).

GOING GREENTo support campus efforts for sustainability & recycling, printed Advising & Registration Forms are no longer provided by the Registrar’s Office (with the exception of Summer 2013 Orientation sessions).  A secure data file is provided to designated contact staff in each academic department with individual forms for majors, along with an Excel report listing majors with student name and I.D., alternate PIN, registration day/time, preferred email, class level, major, concentration, primary advisor and additional advisor(s).  Faculty & advisors may use their secure MyInfo log on to access DegreeWorks and the Advisor Dashboard (which continues to list the student’s alternate PIN).

ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER

University Studies is home to the MSU Academic Advising Center (AAC).  In addition to serving students, the AAC serves faculty and staff across campus to support and complement the advising specific to departments and programs. The AAC provides: 1) General academic advising for all freshmen and sophomores, regardless of declared major; 2) Information and updates on curricula, CORE 2.0, advising scheduling and deadlines; and 3) Professional development and training for advisors.

There is an important feature on the Academic Advising Center web site: The Advisor's Toolkit. A wealth of information is on this site for advisors working with all varieties student populations. You can check out the toolkit at the following link:
