The following guidelines apply to the nomination and selection process for identifying a recipient of the Montana State University Award for Meritorious Technology/Science:
- Any Montana State University-Bozeman faculty member or academic administrator may nominate a faculty member for this award; however, a faculty member may not nominate himself/herself. In addition, nominations from scientist/administrators from other academic institutions, the private sector or government laboratories will also be accepted.
- The nomination letter must clearly justify the reasons the nominee should be recognized. The nominator must also articulate the importance of the technological/scientific advance(s) contributed by the nominee.
- In addition to the nomination letter, the nominator must submit a maximum of two letters of support with his/her letter of nomination. Support letters must describe the nature of the technological/scientific accomplishment(s). The letter must include an assessment of the originality of the contribution and an evaluation of the realized or potential impact of the technology. It is strongly recommended that at least one of these letters of support be an external assessment of the technological/scientific advances(s) under consideration.
- Nomination materials must include a current vita of the nominee.
- The MSU Award for Meritorious Technology/Science will not necessarily be awarded ever year.
