DISCOVER A WATERSHED: THE EVERGLADES
Produced through a partnership
with the South Florida Water Management District, 1996, 278 pages. Developed
for formal and nonformal educators (classroom teachers, parents, ranger/naturalists,
museum staff) of middle and high school students (and beyond!), this comprehensive
guide is divided into three parts: a reference section that includes the
natural and human history of the watershed; contemporary issues and potential
solutions; and learning activities. Build a model of the Kissimmee-Okeechobee-Everglades
watershed; plot a hurricane and predict if it will make landfall; or simulate
a restoration project by trying to put the pieces back together again.
Explore a unique and endangered watershed where unprecedented solutions
are being tested. Cost $15.95.
