GETTING TO KNOW THE WATERS OF YELLOWSTONE
Produced through a partnership
with the Division of Interpretation, Yellowstone National Park and the
Parks as Classrooms of the National Park Foundation, 1995, 38 pages. The
Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (an area of nearly 18 million acres, with
2.2 million-acre Yellowstone National Park at its core) is dramatically
shaped and characterized by water. Places like Old Faithful, the travertine
terraces at Mammoth, or the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, are in some
basic way, water phenomena. Illustrated with fun graphics, informative
maps, and diagrams, the activities of Getting to Know the Waters of Yellowstone
introduce learners to the wonder of Yellowstone's waters. With the roll
of a die, simulate water cycling through the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Build a minigeyser. Identify the water journey of a glacial erratic boulder
or a cutthroat trout. The waters of Yellowstone have a great many stories
to tell! Cost $9.95.
