Charge

As the executive committee of the University Governance Council, handle matters relating to agenda of Faculty Senate, Professional Council, and University Governance Council, as well as refer items of business to appropriate standing committees. Act as an emergency advisory council to the President. Serve as a Summer Executive Committee of Faculty Senate, Professional Council, and University Governance Council. Make appointments to administrative and ad hoc committees as necessary, and study the effectiveness of the various committees in performing their assigned functions.

Weekly, and/or as called by Chair.

Membership

Voting Members: Three current members of Faculty Senate and one current member of Professional Council.

Voting Ex Officio Members: Chair and Chair Elect of Faculty Senate; Chair and Chair Elect of Professional Council; Chair of Faculty Affairs; Chair of Professional Affairs; Chair of University Governance Council Nominating Committee.

Nonvoting Ex Officio Members: Past Chairs of Faculty Senate and Professional Council; Director of Affirmative Action or designee; President of ASMSU or designee; Secretary and Parliamentarian of University Governance Council.

Length of Term

Members are nominated and appointed by Faculty Senate and Professional Council and serve one year terms.

Appointed By

The three current members of Faculty Senate are nominated/appointed by the Faculty Senate voting membership. The one current member of Professional Council is nominated/appointed by the Professional Council voting membership.

Advisory To

University Governance Council, Faculty Council, and Professional Council, as well as to the President.

Reports are made at each Faculty Council, Professional Council, and University Governance Council meeting and become part of the minutes of those bodies.

Mechanism for Changing This Information

Changes may be made to committee structure and information only in accordance with Faculty Senate and Professional Council Constitution and By-Laws. Authorization of changes comes only through the Secretary to University Governance Council, with the approval of the current Chair and Vice Chair of University Governance Council.
