As Chair of the Classified Employees Personnel Advisory Committee (CEPAC) I have received an e-mail from Craig Roloff in response to CEPAC’s letter to UPBAC of March 10. Our letter requested financing for supervisor education and training (copies enclosed).
CEPAC understands the tight budgetary constraints under which the university is required to work, and is grateful to Craig for explaining why a Personnel & Payroll Services’ budget amendment was not submitted to UPBAC. We further appreciate Craig’s statements of personal commitment to enhancing program offerings for supervisors.
While it is no longer possible to adopt the PPS budget amendment for next year, CEPAC urges UPBAC to consider funding supervisor education and training in FY05 separate from Administration and Finance divisional requests. Subsequent to our letter of March 10, CEPAC has discussed the issue with the Commissioner of Higher Education and, again, with President Gamble. Clearly, recognition of the lack of programming in this area is well recognized and warrants viewing on the level of an institutional priority.
I have not yet responded to Craig’s e-mail, and would be most grateful for UPBAC’s feedback and comment before I do so.
With sincere thanks for your input and suggestions.
Sincerely,
Bonnie White
