Buffet by MSU Catering will offer 7 entrees, eppetizers, and desserts with land shrimp (insects are close cousins of ocean shrimp). Worldwide, 1,900 species of insects are documented being used for food. Join the conversation on food security and sustainable food production. Challenge the numbers: 1 hectare US ranch land supports 100kg beef, but can support 907 kg or 1 ton of insects without the high levels of greenhouse gas production and soil/water acidification. Other activities at the Bug Buffet include interactive sessions on honeybee behavior, sensory evaluation of honey produced throughout the US, films, displays and poster sessions by MSU students
Have a taste of the sustainable future! Bug appetit!
