This lecture will not only classically deal with the written word and its influential power, but also
look at the image as a multi-layer visual text that can exert influential power or absolute
instrumental power. There are visual texts like combinations of words that persuade and others
that unequivocally command and instruct. These visual and written texts often go unnoticed in
a conscious way, but in an unconscious way they persuade, compel or command our everyday
actions and choices.
Power and Language looks at the overt and covert use of texts, both written and visual that
influence or control social behavior
