MSU Family Science Night

When:

Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm

Where:

Strand Union Building - view map

Description:

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics will be celebrated at Montana State University on Thursday, March 1. The event is free and will help kids and adults connect with MSU research in a fun and easy-to-understand format.

The event, which began as MSU NanoDays in 2008, will feature lots of nano- and other small-scale MSU engineering and science, as well as other MSU projects, from soil science to extreme gravity physics to microbiology. A large section of displays will be devoted to nanotechnology, an emerging field in which scientists and engineers study and manipulate matter at the atomic and molecular scale to develop disease-fighting drugs, alternative energy solutions, ultra-strong sports equipment and many other applications. Other activities and demonstrations include extracting DNA and meeting microorganisms that can withstand space travel.

To help celebrate MSU’s 125th birthday, a special section of displays will feature the science behind many iconic birthday symbols, such as candles and balloons.

Stop in anytime between 5pm and 7pm. Activities take place in the SUB Ballrooms.

The event is hosted by MSU Academic Technology & Outreach.
