Elliott Barnhart will present a free lecture at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11 in the Montana Tech Natural Resources Building, room 128, at Montana Tech in Butte.
Barnhart's talk “Moving microbiology and DNA analysis out of the lab and into the field with new technology,” will highlight a new down-well sampling technology that has provided insight into processes occurring in subsurface coal beds as well as near-real-time DNA analysis technology that could be implemented at USGS stream gages for rapid detection of aquatic species of concern.
Barnhart is a research hydrologist at the USGS and an assistant research professor at the Center for Biofilm Engineering at Montana State University.
