Dr. Mike Franklin is a professor in MSU’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology and an affiliated faculty of the CBE. Mike has a long history of studying P. aeruginosa biofilms, especially molecular and genetic-based mechanisms of dormancy. He is presenting “Ribosome hibernation in dormant Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm cells.”
Brian Pettygrove is a PhD student in MSU’s microbiology and immunology department and works at the CBE under Dr. Phil Stewart. Brian is studying how human neutrophils interact with biofilm bacteria. He will present “Neutrophil clearance of nascent Staphylococcus aureus biofilm.”
Both talks are a preview of the presentations that Mike and Brian will be delivering at the upcoming ASM Biofilms conference in Washington, D.C.
