Dr. Libby Khumalo, from the Center for Large Landscape Conservation, will present "Connecting People to Conserve Large Landscapes: Power and Promise in Community-Based Conservation" during this week's Earth Sciences Seminar. The event will be held in Gaines Hall room 243 from 12:15-1:30pm. Coffee will be provided. Seminars are free and open to the public.
Drawing from her experience working with indigenous communities in Montana and Namibia, Dr. Khumalo will show how effective and ethical conservation requires a close look at power dynamics and provide a set of recommendations for bridging conservation science with action at the local scale.
