Five finalists for the position of vice president of research, economic development and graduate education at Montana State University will interview on campus July 22-26. As part of their campus interviews, each finalist will engage in a public forum.
Open forums for each finalist will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Byker Auditorium in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Building on the day of their campus visit. Each open forum will be followed by a reception, which will be held from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in the lobby outside the auditorium.
The finalists, in order of their campus visit dates, are:
David Rosowsky, who served for six years as provost and senior vice president at the University of Vermont, will visit campus Monday, July 22. Rosowsky has also served as dean of engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and as head of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University, among other positions. Mark McLellan, vice president of research and graduate studies at Portland State University, will visit campus Tuesday, July 23. McLellan has also served as vice president of research and dean of the School of Graduate Studies at Utah State University, among other positions. McLellan’s full CV is available to view.
Kevin Gardner, vice provost for research at the University of New Hampshire, will visit campus Wednesday, July 24. Gardner has also served as associate state director for New Hampshire EPSCoR and as a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of New Hampshire, among other positions. Jason Carter, associate vice president for research at Michigan Technological University, will visit campus Thursday, July 25. Carter has also served as professor and chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology at Michigan Technological University, among other positions. Ana de Bettencourt-Dias, who served for four years as associate vice president for research and innovation at the University of Nevada, Reno, will visit campus Friday, July 26. De Bettencourt-Dias has also served as a chemistry professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, and as a research scientist at the University of Cologne, among other positions. MSU President Waded Cruzado and Abbie Richards, chair of Faculty Senate and associate professor in the Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering who is leading the search committee, invite faculty, staff, students and community members to participate and provide input in this phase of the search process.
