Mythical Montana in the Movies, an MSU Wonderlust Course
- Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm
- Hope Lutheran Church, 2152 W. Graf St, Bozeman
Join MSU Wonderlust as we explore Montana in the movies! This course is open to the public and will meet on Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, starting October 16 through November 20.
Montana and the Northern Rockies are often used as settings for dramatic and historical movies, notably: A River Runs Through It, Legends of the Fall, Little Big Man, and The Revenant. Other films incorporate modern Montana into social and dramatic themes, for example: Rancho Deluxe, Certain Women, The Missouri Breaks, The Horse Whisperer, and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Students will compare clips from these types of movies to literary and historical sources, especially Norman McClean's novella A River Runs Through It and Ross Toole's Montana, An Uncommon Land.
More information and course registration are available here. The cost is $75 for MSU Wonderlust members and $120 for non-members.
