Thanks to the generosity of our donors, patrons and dedicated Members, Museum of the Rockies has brought one of the world's most advanced technologies to the Taylor Planetarium. Called Digistar 5 and developed by Evans & Southerland, this state-of-the-art projection system will allow visitors to experience our universe in vivid colors, visual motion and brilliant displays of light.
Experience the Aurora
Showtimes: M-F - 11am & 3pm; Sat - 10am, 1pm & 4pm; Sun - 1pm & 4pm
To showcase the amazing capability of Digistar 5, we've selected Experience the Aurora for our premiere show. Seven months of winter sky watching, hundreds of thousands of photographs and hundreds of hours under the spell of the Aurora have been condensed into the world's first full dome three-hundred-sixty degree, high resolution movie of the Northern Lights. One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure
Showtimes: Sat & Sun - 2pm
Big Bird and Elmo and their friend Hu Hu Zhu, a Muppet from the Chinese production of Sesame Street, travel from Sesame Street to the Moon in this brilliant spectacle of light and color designed for young children. Beginning on March 2nd and showing every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. thereafter, One World, One Sky is a great way to introduce the littlest members of the family to astronomy.
The Big Sky Tonight
Showtimes: M-F - 1pm; Sat - 11am & 3pm; Sun - 3pm
Come learn what you can see in the night sky right from your own backyard! This unique presentation covers seasonal constellations for the casual viewer, as well as deep sky objects for those who want to know where to point their telescopes. This program is updated regularly to show current sky events along with new images from space.
