Teams wishing to use any of the University marks, logos, graphics, or branding must be currently registered as a Club Sport and meet all criteria for being a registered student organization. 

All team gear and uniforms must be approved by the Sr. Coordinator of Competitive Sports prior to ordering. Do not wait until the last minute to get approval, your design may not be approved before you need it for competing. Contact them here!

Designing Team Apparel, Gear, & Merchandise

  1. No alterations may be made to any of the MSU marks or branding.
  2. The use of the logos must adhere to brand standards and may not be modified in any way or combined with other logos or verbiage. The University logos must stand alone and be surrounded by clear space.
  3. Images and/or logos of external sponsors are not allowed to appear on uniforms or apparel with the MSU or Bobcat logo
  4. All club sports must use the word "Club" in their team names on gear/apparel/merchandise
    • Correct naming formats: MSU Soccer Club, Montana State University Triathlon Club
    • Incorrect naming formats: MSU Ultimate, Montana State University Rugby
  5. All proofs and designs must be sent to the Club Sport Coordinator for approval BEFORE ordering.

Licensed Vendors

All products must be produced by an approved, licensed vendor. 

Failure to use a licensed vendor could result in a Club Sport team not being able to wear uniforms or sell merchandise that they have already paid for.

Approved Licensed Vendors

Student Club Name at Montana State University

All Club Sports should call themselves the (insert name) club at Montana State University or MSU. It's important that the word club is included and that the name Montana State University or MSU follows the name.

  • Clubs can create their own logo or identity. No stylized or cartoon versions of the Bobcat are allowed.
  • Elements of the MSU logo should not be used in the logo design.
  • Names and logos cannot be used in conjuction with commercial advertising.

Use of MSU Name and Logo

MSU has protected several names and logos by trademarking them in Montana or the United States. Club Sports can use the MSU name and logos in the following ways:

Use of name:

  • In the club name at MSU to identify the club is located at Montana State University.
  • On social media - Club Sports can use the university name to indicate their location at the MSU campus.

Use of MSU academic logo:

  • Allowed for internal purposes - MSU Club Sport's may use the MSU institutional logo (M/Flame) for internal purposes, if desired. Examples of internal use would be a poster or banner displayed on the MSU campus. 
  • Names and logos cannot be used in conjunction with commercial advertising.

Use of the Bobcat logo:

  • Use of the Bobcat logo is reserved for student Club Sports who apply for the ability to use it.
