You are a CMS user and have not taken our CMS Accessibility training yet.

And that's OK. You have a few more weeks. After March 1, we will begin deactivating user accounts until the Creating Accessible MSU Web Content (or CMS 115) training course has been completed.

All you need to do is

It should take about 60 minutes of your time.

Why we are requiring you to take this course.

Making websites accessible means allowing all users to access our website, regardless of disability. Providing an equitable means of accessing digital content to all users is an important commitment as we continue to eliminate accessibility barriers and build our culture of inclusion.

What you do not need to do.

  • You do not need to remediate your website on your own. We have a team of Student Developers who are assisting all websites with remediation
  • You do not need to fix all of your documents before March 1 (PDFs, DOCs, Excel sheets...)
  • You do not need to remediate any content that was created or published before June 1, 2014 unless it is requested to be brought up to compliance.

What we are doing to help.

Until July 2020, Web & Digital Communications will have student developers performing the bulk of the accessibility remediation work on existing content on websites, defined as web content created or updated after June 1, 2014.

Our student team will be assisting by

  • doing a one-time error remediation on your entire website,
  • assisting with the conversion of documents into webpages later this year, and
  • working with you early next year to remediate the organization of your navigation menus.

For now, please take CMS 115 as soon as you can.

P.S. If you need a quick definition of Web Accessibility: Web accessibility ensures that all persons, regardless of disability, have access to the same information and functionality available on our websites in the same time frame and with equivalent ease of use. Accessible web content ensures an equitable experience for all visitors, including current students, prospectives, parents, university employees, and the public.
