The Diversity Awareness Office is hosting the second Lavender Celebration at MSU to celebrate the achievements and contributions of LGBTQIA students and allies. Institutions of higher education across the country have been holding lavender graduation ceremonies since 1995. A lavender celebration recognizes LGBTQIA students and allies of all races and ethnicities for their successes and achievements. The Lavender Celebration is scheduled for Thursday, May 4th at 4:00 pm in the Procrastinator Theater, Strand Union Building. The event will include a keynote speaker, individual recognition of the participating graduates, awarding of lavender honor cords to be worn at the university commencement ceremony, and a reception to follow.
