The MSU/Bozeman Good Neighbor Committee will host a free seminar to help MSU students planning to live off-campus for the first time to negotiate local resources and how to be good neighbors.

"Off Campus Living 101" will be offered at 11a.m.  on Saturday, November 14 in the  Foundation and Alumni Center conference room.

Geared toward students moving off campus for the first time since leaving home, seminar topics will include finding the right rental property, important safety features, understanding lease agreements, and tenant rights and responsibilities. Panelists will advise on selecting responsible roommates and making a successful transition into local neighborhoods. Panelists will include representatives from  MSU Community Relations, Dean of Students office, Office of Financial Education, MSU Police, Bozeman Police Department, MSU Residence Life, Bozeman Fire Department, Peak Property Management and MSU Students living off campus

Launched in 2012, the Good Neighbor Committee encourages positive interactions between permanent community residents and students through a myriad of programs and this seminar provides education and resources  to equip students to be good neighbors.

The committee will hand out Good Neighbor Bags at the seminar as part of an ongoing initiative to share information with students about the Bozeman community. The bags include items such as bus schedules, an events calendar, coupons for area businesses and maps.

Participating students will be eligible to win more than $500 in raffle prizes including an IPad mini.

Refreshments will be served.
